SHORT ENTRY: Getting Back to Brazil

Santana do Livramento, State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil
With the yerba mate congress behind me and some valuable contacts made, the rural territories of Palmeira das Missoes, Ilopolis and Erechim in Brazil were highlighted on my map. The next step: make physical contact with all entities in the yerba mate supply chain in order to become better educated about what makes for high quality yerba mate.

With 3 months of travel still ahead of me, I drafted a budget of R1057 .20 (US$ 100) per week which had to include everything: food, accommodation, travel and extras. If you do the math, you will perceive that it is quite a mother of a tight budget, but a budget is a budget is a budget. Solutions are there, just need to think out of the box. In my case the solution was hitch-hiking and couch surfing. I have been very blessed by the kindness my hosts so far. In Riveira/Santana do Livramento I couch surfed with Mily, who lives with her mom and 2 dogs.

What you can look forward to in the NEXT ENTRY: From the boarder I made it to Palmeira das Missoes were I started visiting farms and factories full-time. From there I moved South East to a town called Ilopolis, where 776/780 farming properties cultivate yerba mate. All of them are family farms.

This is a sweet and short "in-between entry" with a video that I thought as pretty funny...

Having been had the fortune many times to stand alongside a road with great expectation that a caring soul would recognise my simple needs, would stop, load me in and take me to my destination, only to find myself in he same spot many hours later!! I empathise with your plight on that day.
