Goodbye Siena, Hello Milano.

Milan, Lombardy, Italy
Peter and I shared our last breakfast with Netty, Dawn and Catrina before bidding them well on their next adventure. Peter and I had then made our way to catch a taxi to Siena's railway station where we had caught the train to Central Station Milan via Florence.

This is the main railway station of Milan and Europe . The station is a railway terminus and was officially inaugurated in 1931 to replace the old central station (1864), which was a transit station and could not handle the new traffic caused by the opening of the Simplon tunnel in 1906.

Whilst at the station Peter and I had lunch then waited fro my cousin Guiseppe (Orazio) Sciacca, son of Guissepe Sciacca, my mother's brother, to pick us up at 7.30pm and returned us to his apartment where we met his partner Emanuele and their dog Mondo.

I remember Milan's Trams from when I was here in 1989 and also got the opportunity to ride on them. This tram system has been in operation since 1881 and has a network of 170 kilometres.

Orazio and Emanuele made us feel very welcomed in their home and gave up their bedroom, they had a sofa in the adjoining room, but were insistent that it was all okay and that the opening sofa was comfortable.

We enjoyed dinner with the boys before taking Mondo for an evening walk.
