Chilling Out in Milan

Milan, Lombardy, Italy
It was nice to have slept in this morning and having woken up to a special breakfast that Orazio had put together, Sicilian Cassata (a delicious marzipan, sponge and liquor sweet), Yogurt, Coffee and Pear Juice. A real sugar hit to start the day.

Peter and I caught the Tram into Buenos Aires (Piazza Venezia) . Thoroughly enjoyed the trip, as I have a love for trams. Milan have a great tram system, but also has a great Metro system which has expanded from two lines to four lines since my last visit in 1989.

Orazio did not come with us to Piazza Venezia, to join his mother Zia Rosa for lunch. 22 years had passed since seeing Zia Rosa and there was so much to talk about, including acceptance of her own son's sexuality.

Unfortunately her husband (Mum's brother) is in denial! My Father is no more accepting than Zio Giuseppe about being Gay and to their loss, they just want to take this issue to their graves.

After lunch and saying goodbye to Zia Rosa, Peter and I looked at some clothing stores before picking up a hire car for his long trip to Croatia with his nephew Ben. After getting used to a manual car, we drove back to Orazio and Emanuele's apartment.

Peter and I relaxed and watched 5 episodes of the series of Spartacus - 'Gods of The Arena', which was about Gladiators in the Arena. When Emanuele returned from his working day with Peter's nephew, it was time for refreshing Gin and Tonic.

After dinner, it was an early night as Peter and ben would leave at 5.00am for their long road trip to Croatia.
