Packed up, headed north. Breakfast at Cracker Barrel. Back on the road, a stop at the huge outlet stores in San Marcos. Now on to Austin.
In Austin we toured the Texas State Capital
. It is a beautiful, traditional style capital. Tall rotunda, senate chamber and offices on one side and the representatives chamber on the other. Now time for some lunch. We searched for something to eat and ended up at a little bakery/deli/flower shop called "Walton's". The food was very good and Lauralee had an excellent cappuccino. The river that flows through Austin was busy with kayakers and people floating the river on tubes. It was about 90 degrees and the cool water probably felt good.
We decided to continue our drive north to Waco. Good thing we did as traffic was horrific! Stop and go forever. What should have taken an hour took over two. By the time we arrived in Waco all of the museums were closed - we will have to check them out on Monday. Waco is home to Baylor University. Baylor is the largest Baptist university in the US. Current enrollment is about 15,000. We checked into our hotel and then headed for downtown and a park for a brief walk. Dinner was nothing special, the kids swam in the pool and then we all crashed. More tomorrow....

You were in the 7th grade when we were in Dallas and Sharon Werner and I took you, Kathy and Todd and his sister to the Book Conservatory and toured it and as well as walking to the place where JFK was shot. Then we went to a place where the Magna Carta was on display. I am sure not too interesting to two 11 year olds. Glad that you are having a good time and safe. God Bless!
