Across Wisconsin

Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States
Today was a long drive day. We made stops along the way for breakfast, lunch and Starbucks which helped the trip go by.

We left Milwaukee and headed west for Madison, where we had breakfast at Cracker Barrel . Cracker Barrel is a must on one of our family road trips. After breakfast we drove around the state capital building and then back onto I-94 towards Minneapolis.

Lots of corn and other crops along the way. Lush green fields surrounded by lots of trees.

We made a pit stop in the Wisconsin Dells and we awe struck by the place. It is said to be the mid-wests cheap Disneyland. Every hotel has a waterpark. Roller coasters are everywhere, along with miniature golf, go carts, boat tours and rentals, a water ski show, magicians, restaurants, gift shops, and outlet stores too. I really can not tell you how crazy this place is. We drove through Starbucks and found our way back to the interstate.

Time for lunch and we were in Eau Claire. A college town that reminded us a lot of Walla Walla. We found a local sandwich shop Ergbert & Gerberts, that was very good. Back on the interstate, next stop Minneapolis .

We arrived into St Paul about 4 and hit afternoon rush hour traffic. It was stop and go for a bit but not as bad as LA. We arrived downtown Minneapolis and quickly realized there was a Vikings pre-season football game tonight. Purple and yellow people were everywhere. Some wore Viking hats and fur vests. We checked into the Seattle Suite at the Depot hotel, dropped our bags and headed out for the Mall of America.

Just 20 minutes and we arrived. It is BIG, really BIG. Over 4 million sq ft of floor space or 96 acres! Six roller coasters/amusement rides, miniature golf, an aquarium, Ferris wheel and more. A connected hotel, movie theaters, numerous restaurants and food courts. It is huge and Grace really liked it. We circled all three levels of the mall and then found a restaurant for a light dinner before returning to our hotel.

One more day and then we head for home. Good night.
