A relaxing day by the pool

Lombok Barat, Nusa Tenggara Barat, Indonesia
Today we plan to do nothing other than relax by the pool all day...recharge the batteries after the exhausting few days just passed

Our day starts with a dip in the pool at 7 .30am (Michelle's first swimming routing...10 laps of the 50m pool) followed by a nice breakfast. By 9am we are by the Adults pool chilling and reading our books.

By 11.30 we need to stretch our legs and ventured down the road to visit some of the neighboring hotels. Nothing special here....but do find a "new" bar that was not there yesterday...Verve has only been open 4 days (dont think so!) and is very new (owned by an Australian we are told). Many waiters serving us...the only guests. We have a drink and a small plate of a local dish, similar to a fried pancake with an onion omelet in the middle...very nice .

Next to Verve we find a local beach side store selling BBQ Seafood and stop for a quick lunch. BBQ Mahi Mahi and some local reef fish with rice....after 45 minutes it is served and worth the wait (BBQ had to be started!)

After lunch, we are back at the hotel by 3.30pm so Michelle can go and have her Balinese Massage . I go to the room for a well earned siesta!

It is now 5pm and we get ready for our cocktails and think about dinner. We decide that we will venture to the Tugu Hotel for a quick visit and dinner. Tugu is 40 minute drive from our hotel, but given we have no plans, we decide to take the long taxi ride.

We arrive by 8pm at this amazing place. Entry is via a dirt road in the middle of nowhere. But we are welcomed by the Hotel that is set up like an Indonesian temple and looks amazing.

Hotel Tugu Lombok stands as a monument for the forgotten history, art and romance of ancient kingdoms, where at the same time provides heavenly tropical luxuries like no other resorts do. Located on the pristine, miles and miles of virgin white sand beach of Sire, on the northwest coast of the island. Neighboring this tropical haven is a beautiful 18 hole-golf course and virgin landscapes, traditional thatched roofed huts and empty green fields where local life continues in today’s age much the same as it has done for centuries .

In bringing back to life ancient Hindu times in Lombok before the occupation of the Dutch and the Balinese, Hotel Tugu Lombok surrounds itself with chapters from the romantic epic of the Mahabharata. The hotel features hundreds of original, beautiful artworks and antiques painstakingly collected and assembled as a loving testament to the long forgotten, original culture of the isle of Lombok.

The restaurant has big pillars in the form of Indonesian Princesses supporting a very high pitched roof. I am now glad we made the trip.

The highlight was our dinner. Great food that we both agreed was the best dinner experience we have had this holidays. Traditional dishes, but beautifully presented and prepared. Wow!

This has been another great day and now look forward to our last day of the year...we must plan New Years celebrations!
