First Day on the Road

Wawa, Canada
An early start as I pulled out of the driveway at 7:15 am and a day that lasted until 8:00 pm on the road.
I had an interesting time three blocks from my house when a car decided to turn into my lane unannounced . I honked, he wasn't happy, and began a honking extravaganza for about a block. Where his head was is a place I don't want to be at.
I took Highway 417 to 17 then contnued west through North Bay, and Sudbury to Thessalon where I took Highway 129 North to Chapleau then West on 101 to Wawa where I am camping. They have WiFi as long as I stay near the office.
What was amazing about today was that once I got onto Highway417 the GPS said my next turn was in 254 KM. Love riding in Canada !!
It was a day of contrasts; high temperature, then rain and very cool this evening.
The bike ran like a top. The satellite radio was excellent.
Highway 17 passes through a lot of different towns but misses all larger centres such as Sudbury. So far I have not passed through any large centres. If my plans go as hoped this will be a trip of visits to small town Canada. The only large centres I must visit are Thunder Bay and Winnipeg. There aren't any bypasses that make sense
I am in Wawa, the home of the goose statue, at the Wawa RV Resort and Campground where a group of bikers from the Wolf Head Club are camping. They are on an around Lake Superior Tour starting and ending in Duluth, Minnesota.
This is my first attempt to make a blog entry while on the road. I would appreciate it if you would let me know if it works.... I will add pictures later
Total distance: 1012 Km
