Sunny California

Fortuna, California, United States
The day began with me being at the Suzuki dealer by 8:45 am so I would be first into the service department for the day. As promised by the gentleman last night he left a note for the Service Manager and he immediately went to work, and replaced the chain and cleaned the front and rear brakes as they were pretty gummed up from the Alaska dirt. By 10:30 I was on the road and it was sunny and warm.
The Highway 101 continued hugging the shoreline in Oregon and eventually arrived at the California border . Oh what a feeling.
There are many small towns along this highway; some are quite touristy, while others appear to be serious working towns, either for lumber or for fishing.
There was a town with a huge complex called Redwood Lumber and the terrific odour of freshly cut redwood made this section of the trip a pleasure to enjoy.
Just inside California the road passes through Redwood National Park where there were huge redwoods shading the highway and they dwarf all things surrounding them.
The water spray off the ocean created what appears as a salty fog that floats through the trees and over the road. It certainly works very well as an air conitioner. Even though the sun was out all day, I continued to wear my fleece under my riding jacket.
The day has ended in Fortuna California

Where You Are Now
You're in such a beautiful part of the U.S. We just loved the Oregon/California coastlines.
