Editor's NOTE: Normally Glenn proof-read's my blog and does some
major editing, however I am not asking him to do this for me, since he
needs a break. So bear with me if there are misspelled words and the
grammar is incorrect. Thanks for reading.

Also, I've changed the format for the most recent entry to be on top.

Saturday - Garage Sale Day

After breakfast, we got into the RAV 4 and followed my Garage Sale App to take us to garage sales in the area . We arrived at one place and Karen and Thomas purchased a used metal file cabinet for Karen to use and put her school work and stuff in. Plus Karen bought several BRAND new games that had never been used.

Dad loaded up the file cabinet on the roof of the RAV 4 and we went back to campus to drop it off. Then we continued our "Garage Sale" hunt. We found a few more estate sales and didn't get really much.

Now it was about time to eat lunch, so Karen ran into Whole Foods and purchased a salad. Thomas, Glenn and I walked across the street and over a block and we ordered several Argentina empanadas. I had beef. Glenn got spinach and cheese and Thomas got an empanada that had Cod fish. Thomas also picked up some dog food at a local pet store and we walked back to where Karen was sitting in front of the Whole Foods on a round metal table.

After lunch, we went back to the apartment for a nap . We realized that we were only going about 1 hour outside of Boston and didn't really need to leave until around 4 or 4:30pm.

Tonight was the first night we have ever stayed with A Candle in the Window

I had been in communication with Naomi for several weeks now. She had asked if we wanted to eat dinner with them, however we declined since Karen is trying to be good on her diet,by writing everything down, and also by eating certain food. Eating only fruits and vegetables, meat and chicken.

Before arriving, we stopped at a TJ Max to look for a t-shirt for Glenn. We were specifically looking for Boston Red Sox - not New England Patriot. We didn't find a Red Sox, but instead found a USA Olympic shirt.

When we arrived at the A Candle in the Window home, the folks, Tim and Naomi were very very friendly. They showed us around. We talked. Learned that she is into "healthy cooking", probably makes her own yogurt, she home-schools and is very conservative .

We learned that they love watching the Olympics. So, we sat around the small TV and watched about 2 hours of Olympics from Rio. They have 2 kids, ages 9 and 12 or so. The mother lives with them in the bottom basement apartment, however, she was out of town, so that is where we stayed. Karen stayed on a Futon couch, and Glenn and I slept in the master bedroom. It was nice to have a separate living area away from the family.

Naomi's sister and her family arrived too and they stayed upstairs with the rest of the family.

I think our A Candle in the Window was a good experience. I appreciate the fact that she showed us around, and we shared some of our life experiences together. This is very similar to Air BnB, but missionaries do not have to pay the yearly fee.
