From 22* Yesterday to 10* this morning, dropping to 8* later in the day.
9.30am, on our way to the beach! Scarborough to be exact. Steady rain, so careful driving, due to the high berms on the road, there is nowhere for the water to flow off. So often there are huge puddles and Riverlets flowing across. Still stunning scenery tho, everything gets washed. Later as we neared Northallerton the sun was shining so brightly we were cursing it, but the glistening landscape was a pleasure.
Scarborough in the rain was a shame, but it was still a busy and happy$ place - all the fun of the fair. We’d like to go back sometime (when it’s fine) and stay a couple of days. Whitby further north on the coast was the same, totally wet and unpleasant, but we’d love to stay a night some other time.
Actually we never do stay in the cities, it’s too hard for parking, and we honestly are country folk.
We passed thru Thornton-Le-dale, I happened to spot this thatched cottage, said to Kevin, we HAVE to go back, (we tend to have this policy, that we never go back, too late, there’ll be better, wasn’t meant to be, etc).
This was an exceptional exception!
Stopped at a country pub for a drink around 2pm, it was packed with families, and the odd dog! Raining still. We found out later, that Sunday roast means lunch time, and again, fish & chip shops are shut on Sunday evenings, apparently you either don’t eat Sunday eves, or you cook your own.
One thing that frustrates Kecin no end, he loves to cruise along at a speed he can safely enjoy the scenery, but you can guarantee there will always be a car coming up behind. I annoys me too, as I miss a lot of great pics, you just can’t stop, that’s why so many pics thru the windscreen.
After about 2hrs of cruising and me searching iPad for a pub we found the exquisite Wellington heifer in Aindeby Steeple bnb, £60. Couldn’t fault it AND had a very nice roast lamb dinner.

Looks beautiful. Judith - all that walking I think has made a difference. Your photo tells all. I have started small walks.
