It was actually more a circular drive. We started off heading for Newcastle-on-Tyne, but as the roads became motorways and the traffic became heavier, so did our hearts. So we went to the beach.
Kevin’s very confident driving in the city, and I’m ok navigating, but we just don’t like them.
The beach huts at Blyth were a surprise, really cute, all having a different name - and I can’t even remember one to tell you.
Again, dogs, and dogs and more dogs, most people had two. Twice I have stood in, it in my cleat walkers, it stinks, especially when you don’t know until you’re in the car and can’t stop because there’s car behind and the roads too narrow. but, we do love England.
We came back a different route, thru Morpeth, then across to the south eastern edge of Northumberland National Park, Wark is near there.
Northumberland is the most northerly English county. The eastern coast, is low lying and sandy, behind which lies a wide coastal plain. The north provides much rich grazing land, and further west a bare upland country leads to the Cheviot Hills.
The Pennine moors and dales lie in the south-west of the county, which are richly wooded towards the Tyne valley, where the River Tyne meanders along the southern border of the county.
Climbed up steeply, watching more and more of these feelers appearing turning slowly, and majestically.
Green Rigg Northumberland Wind Farm, North Tyne. The wind farm consists of eighteen 2MW turbines and produce clean, green electricity equivalent to the typical annual domestic demand of around 19,000 homes from October 2012. https://fundraising.co.uk/2013/09/09/wind-farm-generates-pound36000-year-northumberland-villages/#.W8gmUxoo-hA
The iPad nav said go straight ahead, Kevin laughed, seriously?!, yes, so off we went. Basically, it was like driving thru our Patiki Road farm and along our race, opening and shutting 4 pipe gates as we went. It was hilarious.
Arrived back at the hotel 4.30pm, had a read in the conservatory for an hour, then went down to the bar. Had a good hours chat to our chef and two other young girls who were our waitresses, and a local man.
7pm we eventually sat down for dinner - we were the only ones there. Very quiet night fir them.
