Honolulu, Hawaii

SeaTac, Washington, United States
Our day started early with a visit to the USS Arizona. It is such a profound experience. Hard to describe but if you've been there you understand. Don't miss the museum.

From here we went to the Bishop Museum where we spent several hours . You can get a taste of it on www.bishopmuseum.org. It's designated the State Museum of Natural and Cultural History. Really something.

Next day we visited the Iolani Palace, the official residence of the last monarchs of Hawaii. Beautifully restored and such a living depiction of Hawaiian heritage. Www.iolanipalace.org.

A bus tour of downtown Honolulu was evidence why you give yourself lots of time to get anywhere. Of course we were here during Chinese New Year, but the traffic is among the worst I've seen.

Lots of fun and music aboard the ship as we had the night in port.

Left for the next leg, 2000 miles to the Marshall Islands, so you won't hear much from me for a few days. Lots of lectures and fun times aboard. Still running out of hours before running out of things to do. Boredom hasn't set in.

Missing my family and friends, just so you know.

It must be very moving to visit Pearl Harbor....a memorial to" the day that will live in infamy".

This is such a fabulous trip that we are on. And thank God I'm not even the least bit tempted by all the food!
