Singapore, 2nd day

We visited the Spice Garden to learn more about the spices used in Paranakan cooking. A museum stop was an education in the remarkable beading and embroidery of the culture. I don't know how they did it with only natural light and no magnifying glass. Must have had much better eyesight then.

A ride through a colorful neighborhood and a visit to a Paranakan Shop House (shop below, residence above) again gave us wonderful food . I would have purchased a pair of beaded shoes but their feet are much smaller than mine, darn. One pair takes from 3-4 months of work.

A wonderful Chinese docent gave us a vision into early Singapore and current fashions. I understand the Singapore airlines flight attendants wear traditional clothing. Beautiful, as are the wood carvings.

Fascinating. Is that fog or smog? So many people in such a small area, their culture must be pretty strong. Thanks for sharing your journey.
