Lima is the capital of Peru and really was just a big city. We kinda wasted a week there but it was nice knowing that we have plenty of time in Peru so we could just take our time.

We checked out some markets on the 1st day which sold everything imaginabale but we were just looking for shoes for me as my trainers were screwed . It was very over whelming with about 100 shoe shops all selling the same stuff. Finally got a pair after 4 hours luckly Junior loves shoes so he was ok with that.

The following few days we checked out a few museums and local markets. We tried the local dish of Cevichi, the dish is typically made from fresh raw fish marinated in citrus juices such as lemon or lime and it was absolutly amazing. We also tried the Cuy which is guinea pig I wasnt such a fan but Junior loved it and expalins it as the meat tastes like chicken the skin tastes like pork crackle but fiddly like a crab. Worth a try but I probably wont have it again.

We first stayed at The Point hostel but it was a bit out of town. It claimed to be a bit of a party hostel which we thought might be fun after relaxing in Banos and Cotapaxi. Turns out it was more of a Pyjama party hostel with everyone wandering round in their PJs all day and night and not that much going on. Maybe we got the wrong day? So we moved to the more central Dragonfly Hostel in the miraflores area which was really cool run by a young very helpful couple and good basic rooms at $50 soles per night ($10 a night). We went and checked out a couple of local bars and Junior caught up on his sport at a local sports bar.

Not much else really happened in Lima. It was pretty expenise for Peru which meant it was time to head to the coast.
