Arequipa, Peru
We arrived early after night bus and found a nice hostel near the plaza. We then went and checked out town where there was a massive police parade which was interesting. We then went to a museum which had Juanita the ice princess, which is a frozen girl the Incas sacrificed hundreds of years ago and they found not to many years ago. Met up with Claire and Pierre for dinner the French couple from our tour in Cusco.

We sussed out a 3 day 2 night tour to the colca canyon which is twice as deep as the grand canyon . We were going to do it by ourselves but shopped around and got it so cheap it was easier to do it with a guide. It was again an early start on day 1 at 3.00am. We had to take a 4 hour bus trip till we go to a small village for breakfast. After we checked out the Condor brid viewing platform where we didnt really see any untill the very end and even then bird was really really far away and hard to see. After that we trekked 3 hours down to our first nights accommodation. It was an easy walk all down hill and we actually got a good close up view of condors flying overhead. We chilled all arvo playing cards and sipping on Rum.

The 2nd day we had to trek only about 3 hours again on the staright to another small village called Oasis which was amazing in the middle of the canyon filled with palm trees and amazing blue swimming pools.

3rd Day - We had to start walking at 4 am in the morning to walk 3 hours up hill to the end of our trip . It was a really hard walk especially at that time in the morning. But made us enjoy a good breakfast at the top. We had a 1 hour bus trip back to the a small village were we visted some hot springs which were beautiful but really really hot. That after we just had another 3 hours on a bus back to Arequipa which everyone slept on. We stopped a couple of times to take some photos of Vicunas, which are similar to llamas and alpacas but quite rear. We stayed one more night then said good-bye to Clare and Pierre and got a day bus to Puno. We had planned not to stop at Puno and go all the way to Bolivia but by the time we got there the borders were closed. Not the most exciting town the only thing there to do really is to
visit Lake Titicaca which is the highest lake in the world but we wanted
to see this lake on the Boliva side.
