We caught an old 50's taxi from Playa Larga to Cienfuegos it took 2 hours plus a 1 hour stop off in the town called Australia which we had to do. We visited a Revolution museum in Australia which Junior enjoyed but I just took pictures. Cienfuegos is a small town with just a small plaza and a board walk. When we first got there we walked around the town and then caught a bike taxi out to another area Punta Gordo. While on the bike it started raining pretty hard, we didn't really know what to expect on the point but the taxi man just rode us to a restaurant that ended up being closed and we were like why did you take us here? Now raining even harder he said jump back in and I will take you to another place where you can have a drink. He dropped us off at this kinda flash hotel and we sat there like drowned rats waiting for the rain to stop. While we were there the guy made us to Mojitos which we were guessing the bike man had suggested cause we hadn’t. Once we finished them we caught another bike back to our place to freshen up for dinner.
We walked to this main town square where they had local dance and music. We found this little bar on the square where we sat and had a few beers. Next to the bar there was this outdoor aerobics class going on. Classic to watch in fact I couldn’t stop watching them. We later found this little restaurant where they had live music which was really good we even ended up buying their CD. We knew about 3 songs already which was a bonus. After dinner we decided to head to the bowling alley. It only costs $1 each game and forget about bowling shoes - no shoes needed in Cuba. The balls were so old they had chips all over them and would bounce down the alley. The pins were held by string and for example when you got 8 down on your 1st go it would reset 4 pins but then the computer was able to work out the score. It was very funny.
After bowling we ended up playing air hockey and we were like little kids at Timezone.
The next day we had a beautiful breakfast at the casa then a taxi picked us up to go to El Pincho which is a natural swimming hole with waterfalls and caves. The water was freezing but beautiful to swim in, we also found little caves under the waterfalls which was magical. After swimming we went for a walk and wondered off the main path to another swimming hole, while we were walked I saw this massive grey snake slither across in front of me and behind Junior. I started screaming and the snakes head was raised and hissing at me, Junior had turned around immediately to see it and then slither across the rest of the path to the other side. At this stage I was up the top of the path as I was thinking the snake was following me. It got our heart going that's for sure.
Our taxi man was waiting for us in the car park so after a few hours we drove back home. We wanted to leave this night but the casa mum made us feel bad about leaving 1 night early so we stayed and wasted a night.
