The Souk Doha

Doha, Doha, Qatar
After a swim in the pool in the compound we went to explore the souk. Just about the only buildings on a human scale here in Doha. Built in the last year or so on the site of the original town it is full of little boutiques all clustered together depending upon their wares.
We found the animal slightly distressing as animals were piled up like baked beans, many of which would be illegal to sell in the uk . The falcon souk was all behind bars as their birds can fetch £100k or more. Several men and boys were parading about with their birds on their wrists a bit like we used to do with the Yes album in the early 1970's. There was even a specialist falcon hospital and a Bedouin tent for them to feel like they were all back in the desert with their birds.
