Muscat, Muscat Governorate, Oman
This morning Ahmed had arranged for us to go out on a friend's boat to see if we could find some dolphins (coals to Newcastle I know) but we didn't but carried on towards some peaceful coves and small islands further down the coast where we had our first proper snorkelling. We saw turtles and Kate followed them around whilst Sebastian swallowed too much sea water and retired hurt. On the way back we passed our guide's village, said hello to his brother also with some snorkellers just past the shangri-la hotel where we had enjoyed a beer the other day. This was by a natural stone arch which we motored under to find ourselves gazing at their parliament building conveniently close to the marina which is overlooked by the British ambassador's residence.
We were met by our taxi driver Ahmed who took us to the public beach where we sat under the palm trees people watching and enjoyed the cooling sea breeze . Lunch was taken on a shady terrace overlooking the beach until it was time for Ahmed to take us to the airport to return to Qatar.
