Oh no not again!

Doha, Doha, Qatar
arrived at the MIA for a second attempt to visit the museum of Islamic art to find it shut again! Thankfully it opened at noon so another unplanned visit to the souk for a drink in the shade amongst the shisha smokers. Happily it opened on time and we spent a fascinating couple of hours looking at 1000 years of Islamic art. extraordinary that European influence in their art started in late 1600's. special treat was an exhibition of tipi sultan because 50+ years ago Sebastian was obsessed with his tiger at the V & A in the days when you could make it work.
We vacated our room at Angharad's and proceeded to the grand Hyatt where for our big birthday and Christmas Angharad has treated us to room with a sea view until we leave for Mauritius . fruit and birthday cake arrived whilst we out having dinner.
Dinner was had at Katara,a cultural centre close by. It appears to be a film lot for Beau Geste with an amphitheatre overlooking the west. Our Lebanese restaurant had a bird's eye view of a 3x3 basketball tournament with loud funk music preventing polite conversation which was redeemed by the "acrobatic dunkers".
We slept very well indeed in our 5 star luxury king size bed ready for next days dune bashing trip

Did I spot a kipling bag having drinks in the souk? Chocy cake and fruit looked good. What a lovely birthday/Christmas present, posh hotel, I like it. What a fab daughter you've got!
