Black River, Black River, Mauritius
This morning it was light enough to really admire the mountain and sea views from the terrace although there had been a tropical storm overnight so no photo opportunity. after breakfast it was time to head for the airport to collect Angharad. thankfully the plane was delayed so we weren't late.
Then it was off to the north of the island to have lunch with Bob and Yvonne who were on holiday but leaving tonight . Bob and Sebastian both worked for CBS records years ago and shared a house before marriage beckoned for all of us. Miranda suggested the beach house restaurant in grand baie and has a beachside terrace. lovely. the portions were huge, particularly Angharad's who when told she only got 3 prawns opted for the large portion not knowing they were the size of lobsters. our fish platter was for two too.
after our friends left in their hotel limmo with liveried driver with a magisterial wave we walked on into the village, described as the st tropez of Mauritius,to look at souvenirs, the beach and a flock of Mauritian Fodies on a beachside tree that Miranda remembered from 30 years before.
a long drive home trying to avoid the rush hour traffic and the tropical storm that was brewing. still it cleared the air and we have to await a decent sun set to film. however the weather turns so quickly here that we were soon enjoying a glass of wine whilst sitting in the rooftop jacuzzi before dinner when another tropical shower arrived .
