Rivière Noire, Rivière Noire, Mauritius
We went north today to visit Le Chateau de Bourdennais,an old colonial plantation house that has recently been very well restored. The house is full of original furniture and artefacts and gives a fascinating account of the family who lived there and their way of life. In the grounds is a superb restaurant and we ate our second creole lunch in two days albeit this one was significantly grander. We had time to wander the grounds, admire Jeremy the ancient tortoise and have the obligatory house rum tasting, this one was flavoured by lemongrass and was delicious.
On our return we were in time for the sunset with a glass of rum punch from yesterday's rummery visit .
