Alappuzha, Kerala, India
After breakfast we arrange for some beer to be sent for. 200 rupee tuktuk charge will get you a maximum of 5 bottles of kingfisher at 100 rupee each.the driver can't buy anymore than that.bonkers but the hotel chain is dry but happy to arrange a delivery and it works out cheaper than walking 500 yards to the next hotel which sells beer. After jack fruit today's comedy fruit/veg is the snake gourd.most of them are shrouded in a large condom.Whilst waiting for the beer to arrive we watched the gardener watering the lawns whilst a white heron kept on pecking at the ground just watered but running away when the water got too close.
After applying plenty of factor 50 we went to the beach to sit under the palm trees on sun loungers provided by the hotel .the beach was deserted apart from a heron and a few sea eagles circling around further down the beach. The sea was warm and salty but quite shallow. we enjoyed playing in the breakers but a bit of an undertow meant we stayed close to shore.lots of sun but we were shaded under our palm tree.we stayed until sunset before a beer on our terrace. Dinner was a surprise as it was a BBQ outside with some Indian dancing to entertain us.
