Sueydongkorn, Sueydongkorn, Cambodia
Another early start to drive to the border to try and avoid the rush. As usual the border is a fascinating mix of travellers and goods crossing the border by lorry and handcarts. Thankfully the crossing took less than an hour and we were on the road again in a couple of comfortable minibuses hurtling through the fertile countryside back on the left hand side of the road. The change in the quality of the infrastructure was immediate and very little litter unlike the rest of SE Asia. We stopped off at a service station for a street food lunch of noodle soup and a cold beer. The difference in the quality of the loos was remarkable, further evidence of the change in prosperity and a more western lifestyle. When we arrived at our hotel we were reunited with our cold weather clothes that we had left behind to keep our baggage weight down for our Vietnam flights. We relaxed in the air conditioned bedroom until it was time to meet up with our fellow travellers for our final meal in SE Asia and northern hemisphere until we arrive back in the UK in July. The restaurant was Cabbages and Condoms, with profits going to family planning initiatives in Thailand.so the decorations were all made of multicoloured condoms and afterwards we went to a bar for one final drink together.
