The Whitsunday Islands

Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia
We boarded a nice big comfortable coach for a 2 1/2 hour drive up to Brisbane airport for our flight up to the Whitsunday Islands. Our drive up the Pacific highway passed through mainly flat open countryside with a surprising amount of sugar cane growing. There was even more when we landed and drove towards Airlie Beach where we are staying for 2 nights so we can sail to the Whitsunday Islands first thing tomorrow. A stunning view from our bedroom but we had little time to enjoy it as we had to walk back into town for a didgeridoo lesson in an opal shop. We couldn't resist buying an opal ring before having a seafood special for dinner.
