The Whitsunday Islands day 2

Airlie Beach, Queensland, Australia
Another early start for breakfast before we set sail at 8am. Our boat,Southern Cross was another America's cup boat(1972) and we had the pleasure of a 37 knot wind and 6ft waves as we crossed over the channel between the mainland and the Islands. We sheltered between Hayman and Hook island so people could go snorkelling on the coral reef by the sandy shore. After lunch on board the return journey was just as breezy but this time we didn't use the jib and Kate led the community singing. We had a bit of a surprise when we entered harbour because a large ocean going yacht we had seen sailing towards harbour earlier in the day turned out to be a boat we had seen in Ocean Village in Southampton being commissioned last July when it still had bubble wrap over its stainless steel cleats and they were annoyingly testing its horns as we sipped a glass of wine.
