The Barrier Reef

Port Douglas, Queensland, Australia
This morning half our party went out to the outer barrier reef for more snorkelling but the other half including us went to the inner reef for a trip in a glass bottomed boat and snorkelling. We zipped out at 70 knots crashing through the waves to the inner reef in 15 minutes,it was more fun than a roller coaster. We moored up just by an island with a picturesque lighthouse which is surprisingly still manned by 2 chaps but they also have to look after the island. We put on stinger suits, flippers, masks and snorkels and then it was into the sea for some fabulous snorkelling amongst the coral making sure we didn't touch it. Another roller coaster ride back to land and it was time to spend an afternoon in the pub with our new friends Gerard and Ailenna from Sydney who we met on the boat trip.
