Flying to Adelaide

Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia
Before our flight to Adelaide we had more than enough time to explore Alice Springs which is not the most exciting place on earth. A short climb up to the top of ANZAC Hill,a memorial to all the servicemen who fought overseas. The town itself was heavily involved in WW2 being instrumental in the supply route up to Darwin. It's a sleepy town with a very high aboriginal population and groups of them could be seen in the dried up river bed drinking in the shade of the trees. The river has an annual boat race which gets cancelled if there is water, which must be unique for a yacht club, as it is more of a fun run. Standing on the footbridge with a depth gauge up to 2 metres is an indication of the danger of flash flooding and the last time it was flowing was in January so I wonder where the drinkers go then because they don't seem to be welcome in the pubs.
After an uneventful flight to Adelaide we take a taxi to our hotel and find,to our joy, a washing machine in our accommodation but as is increasingly annoying is wanting to charge an arm and a leg for Internet access .
