Penneshaw, South Australia, Australia
An early start to get the bus for a 2 hour journey through beautiful rolling countryside with vineyards and olive trees all around to catch the ferry to Kangaroo island. The island is the third biggest island off Australia and is a real biodiversity gem with much of the island protected. Our first stop was Seal Bay,a Sea Lion colony. We were able to get really close to the animals warming themselves on the beach and watch them playing. After lunch we visited the Koala walk to see a few of these cute animals in the trees when we saw our first Kangaroo (hooray) of the trip. then it was off to see the remarkable rocks which are umm remarkable. they look like something megalithic on a headland but are a natural phenomenon.Lastly it was off to the Cape de Couedic to see the admiralty arch( fossilised tree roots) where there is a colony of New Zealand fur seals and again we were able to get really close to observe them playing and sleeping. A fantastic day which saw us get back late at night.
