En route to dijon

Dijon, Burgundy, France
We travelled overnight on the cross channel ferry to take all sacha's belongings to Dijon where he has just started a wine business MSc. Unfortunately our original sailing was cancelled which meant no cabin and little sleep on the reclining seats. To avoid some of the toll roads we took the road to Chartres and spent some time in the magnificent cathedral. The stained glass windows are some of the finest on earth and as the inside of the building is being cleaned they. really shine with the white stonework. A stroll round the ancient city followed by a reviving coffee set us up for the next part of the journey but we still needed to stop a couple of times to rest as our lack of sleep caught up with us.
We found our hotel easily enough and Sacha was soon with us as he lives 100 yards away and we enjoyed a couple of glasses of kir,the local drink ,before an evening walk around this delightful medieval city to a friendly wine bar for supper .
