another morning spent by the pool before we went to the Sheraton park at the western end of the corniche. a floating museum in an old barge contained some historical artefacts from old Doha and a display of scale models of the renovations proposed for old Doha. the idea is to combine the heritage district and souk with a "green" development which includes the metro hub where the two lines will intersect. it will in the main be a pedestrian zone with car parks and service areas all underground and use shade and sea breezes to keep the temperature bearable all year round. there will also be an internal tram system linking the souk to it. the one thing that Qatar has not got is any proper public transport so this will be a marked improvement!
on the way back home our taxi driver was speaking to his wife in Bangladesh on FaceTime on his phone (hands free) . must be very sad to be away from family for so long.
