Rivière Noire, Rivière Noire, Mauritius
One last task before the great day, deliver table decorations and the champagne for the wedding breakfast. 25 bottles for 70 people. woohoo! the ceremony is taking place in an old french colonial house so it's all going to look a bit Gone with the Wind. what's Creole for yeeha?
The evening's celebration was a white party on the beach of a hotel . the gentlemen were all given a white panama to wear and we all looked like a gathering of bowlers albeit more glamorous. Our sundowner was a mauritian mango punch that we were all encouraged to make ourselves which we sipped as the sun set over a perfectly calm sea. the dinner tables were set up on the beach and we walked through the palm trees guided by candles in paper bags where were greeted by the waiters and jazz band who continued to play all night. A huge bonfire warmed us and illuminated us as we tucked into a variety of creole curries and grills. a great party which ended at 11 as the hotel residents needed their beauty sleep as we did to be ready for the big day tomorrow.
