Masai mara day 2

Nairobi, Nairobi County, Kenya
A 7 o'clock departure to spend the whole day in the masai mara meaning we were able to go deep into the park to areas less frequented by tourists. we saw all the usual animals in spades. herds of zebra, buffaloes, wielderbeasts still to do their big migration ,hippos and so many lions. we saw 4 different prides, over 20 including 3 males and one three week old cub being lovingly looked after by the mother. However the best thing of all was stumbling upon a black lion quite by chance. he munched a few bushes and then disappeared back into the bushes. joe our guide said that was the first time in 10 years he'd seen one when no else was around. but it got better because as we headed to the river that the wildebeest migrate over we saw another rhino out in the open and for a few minutes we were alone. of course all the guides are in contact and soon we could see the dust kicking up in the distance as others tried to get a look before he ambled back into the bush. he did look a bit confused as he tried to find a way past but he managed it. joe said he'd never seen two in a day and certainly not where the second one was. another guide said he'd never seen one there in 17 years. It was a fantastic experience and an incredible whole 10 hours out in the bush but sadly no leopard.
