After checking out, we still had a couple of hours to kill by the pool before our taxi to the airport. not much of a hardship. our taxi arrived on time so if anyone ever visits zanzibar and needs a reliable chap we have his number.
the flight to nairobi was above the clouds as was kilimanjaro away on our right . extraordinary to think people we had met on safari had walked up it. nairobi airport is not the best place to spend a few hours,more like a brutalist northern bus station with a need of an upgrade. we managed to use up some kenyan shillings to buy some food and water before managing to get our boarding passes. an overnight flight meant we arrived at a cold and wet heathrow. how different than when we left warm sunshine and lush countryside. our return home on the coach was through a late autumnal landscape of trees with half their leaves dropped. we now have three weeks to pack up our house and move after half our lives spent in it. An all together different adventure.
