We touched down in Dubai as the dawn broke to find rather a damp,cold and grey day so we rather unexpectedly put back a layer of clothing. A quick coffee before our connecting flight to Doha kept us going but we still zoned out on the plane. The flight is shorter than the time it takes to go through immigration and customs particularly as we were shepherded through the goods to declare channel where kate was asked where she had come from as he scanned her suitcase and sebastian asked what was in his suitcase. We finally made it through to be greeted by Ali,the taxi driver we've used in the past who took us to Angharad's complex for a welcome shower and change of clothes. We put on shorts but after 5 days of rain Qatar does not feel any warmer than home and there is only A/C,no heating! However some chilled white wine with a Hairy Bikers' salmon dish soon warmed us up particularly as we all had a " conference" call with Sacha in Australia.
