Train to yogyakarta

Kota Bandung, Jawa Barat, Indonesia
Today we boarded a train for an 8 hour journey to yogyakarta. We were travelling on a Executive train but no western style loos though. The train trundled along through verdant countryside with a patchwork of paddy fields, the occasional village and town with its red roofs protruding above tropical trees.Hordes of motorcyclists await the level crossing barriers to be lifted. After our first stop we had descended down on to a large plane and we picked up speed through a seemingly endless vista of rice paddies and banana trees. We stopped off at an occasional large town where we could stretch our legs in the sunshine,a welcome change from the exuberant air conditioning on board.
Upon our arrival in Yogyakarta we boarded our minibus which took us to our village for a home stay . We have a little annexe all to ourself with wet room, proper loo and a kettle. Kate was surprised by a frog hiding in the loo roll holder, our host was so apologetic but we insisted it wasn't a problem, just humorous. So as dusk fell we sat outside on the porch with a cup of tea watching the family go about their end of day activities and listening to the various farm animals. We than enjoyed a simple but delicious home cooked meal.
