Perth, Western Australia, Australia
Up before dawn to catch our morning flight to Perth. Whilst we were sitting by the departure gate waiting we were all told to leave for a security check of our hand held luggage which was conducted in rather haphazard manner and a few people who had bought water were relieved of it. Considering you had to buy water on the plane and it was over a 3 hour flight that seemed a little harsh and probably a potential health hazard.
We arrived on time and declared our 4 tea bags,6 chocolate drink sachets and that we'd walked in rice fields and waterfalls . The customs were more interested in whether we had carvings or drums and told us not to worry about the tea etc. We'll still declare it next time we come though, just in case.
Pete and Anne, our friends from way back picked us up and took a scenic route back to their house for a proper cup of tea! We then went for a walk in the botanical gardens nearby and enjoyed the views of the Swan and Canning rivers and the Perth skyline. It was nice to see so many people enjoying the gardens, having picnics and making tea. Then it was time to return home for a typical barbecue,a proper bottle of beer and a glass or two of wine outside in the balmy warmth.
