Dalkeith, Western Australia, Australia
After a leisurely morning over a proper cup of tea and toast Peter and Anne drove us around the neighbourhood meandering like the swan river down to Fremantle,Perth's port. Many of the houses have fabulous views of the sea or river. There are a few original colonial bungalows with their wrap around verandas but most now are modern concrete and glass properties.
We stopped to admire the prison and anzac memorial which commands a lovely uninterrupted view of the whole area . Finally after a bit of a search for a cash machine in the centre of fremantle which is full of original buildings, many just facades with modern interiors we crossed the railway to go to the little creatures brewery where we were to meet Andre and Sajni,a couple we had met on a tour in Vietnam and Michael and Sarah,Michael had taught with Kate at Townhill Junior School 20 years ago before emigrating. The beer and talk flowed very easily and continued as we went to a tapas restaurant in a local bakery. It was great to renew old friendships
