Dalkeith, Western Australia, Australia
A quiet day as we were a bit creaky after all the cycling yesterday so we went for a drive northwards up the coast. We stopped to enjoy the view of city beach which has seen much change, scarborough beach where the notorious alan bond had a skyscraper hotel the rendezvous which dominates the skyline. This beach frontage is going through a big transformation to try to appeal to the younger crowd with restaurants and more apartments planned. Finally we stopped at Hillary's boat harbour,a favourite spot for tourists and locals
alike . Plenty of familiar restaurant chains and boats to look at. We then travelled inland to the Swan river valley where we saw wineries and a more rural perth. Peter and Anne were astounded at the developements that had happened in the last couple of years. We had time for a cup of tea at the swan valley chocolate company where we had could sample their products. We could have bought a Chocolate Quokka for easter!
Earlier in the day we realised we were due to pick up our hire car so we carried on to the airport to find it was harder than expected. we turned up at the domestic car hire desk not the international one although the car personnel call them by different names although a mere 100 yards apart and they are both at terminal 1. It was just as well we followed peter as we would no doubt have got completely lost on the way back. For supper we had shark and chips and it was good to see the portions were as huge as at home.
Tomorrow we start our driving tour in the south west of WA and wish our hosts farewell. They are due to go to the uk in a month's time and we will catch up again then.
