Angaston, South Australia, Australia
Our last full day in Angaston and as Sacha had to go to work we decided to have a stroll to the Yalumba winery for a tasting and lunch. As we approached the winery buildings we had doubts as to whether they did tastings as no cellar door signs were apparent. We found the tasting room which was empty and asked the only person there if we could have a tasting. Of course that's what we are here for. We had all the wines on their tasting list and some others accompanied by a platter. To our joy they had decent wifi and a log fire so we bought a bottle to drink now and one for an aperitif later. Whilst we wiled away the time people came in for a tasting, some to buy a bottle as if it were an off-licence and some people were hassling the staff for a VAT receipt for the wine they had drunk at lunch so they could try and claim back the tax at the airport. How they intended to produce the wine for inspection is a mystery.
When we walked back we stopped off at the supermarket for a pint of milk and some cake for tea we bumped into Sacha who was buying dinner, local lamb and roast veg . A fine final meal en famille.
