Hierapolis

Kaş, Antalya, Turkey
We set off for a long drive to Selçuk. Our first restroom stop was a service station in the mountains that specialised in their own organic yoghourt...delicious. Then it was time to visit Hierapolis,a vast ancient spa town. A substantial theatre,a necropolis full of distinct sarcophagi as the “cure” did not always work,a fairly complete city layout and the remains of the thermal baths, still in use but in a theme park sort of way. We declined to swim there but did paddle in the travertines, the salt formations caused by the endless flow of calcium rich water that flows over the hillside. A unique site. We arrived in Selçuk just in time for dinner.
