On our way to Troy we stopped to see a traditional carpet weaving cooperative and of course we ended up buying a Turkish carpet!
Troy is a very small archeological site but a many different layers over the centuries.
It did have a commanding view over the sea and understandingly was an important city. It was very very windy!
Off to Çanakkale for a late lunch of the local speciality: Baked Potato and our first view of the Dardanelles scene of the ill fated Gallipoli campaign of the first world war. The mine laying ship that saved Istanbul is moored in the harbour. The horse from the film Troy stands on the quayside.
