We were up nice and early today and on our way to Gozo. I just can’t emphasize enough how simple, efficient and cost effective the public transit system is here in Malta. Now don’t get me wrong…there are certainly quicker methods of travel. They do hit every nook and cranny between point A and point B. But we’re on vacay…we’re not in any hurry.
I thought the mainland of Malta was old
If I didn’t realize it before, I certainly did today. It’s incredibly refreshing to travel to a country that’s primary focus isn’t taking advantage of travellers, be they tourists or locals on the go. By the time we reached the ferry this morning, we decided to get a hot bevvy for the short trip across to Gozo. Kier got a coffee and I got a hot chocolate…for the grand total of €1.50. If this were back home, and you were on a ferry, you’d be paying through the nose…just because. We’ve been overall very impressed with how reasonably priced everything is. Bear in mind that we didn’t have to book a hotel because we had one of those infamous Wyndam coupons. The front desk clerk was quoting someone on the telephone a rate per night at this spot in July, and she said it would cost them €150 per night…so we know we got a super deal. Even the food thus far has been reasonable, for those meals that we haven’t prepared ourselves in our unit’s kitchen.
After a great tour of Gozo with some built in time to do a wee bit of shopping, see some fabulous sites and enjoy spectacular weather, it’s going to be an early night. Getting up at 7:30 am on vacation is exhausting!!
