New York, New York, United States
Our last day here in NYC and we were able to fit in pretty much everything that was on our list.  We headed out this morning to take the ole ‘HOHO’ tour.  We inquired with the Concierge because there are just so many Hop On/Hop Off tours to pick from.  Fortunately, the hotel had a deal with one of the company’s which afforded us a signficant discount.  After waiting in line at the tour office to pick up our discounted tickets, we went out to get in the line to board.  We walked across the street to where the line started, so we walked down the block...further...and further...and further...till we go to the next cross road.  We stepped in behind the last people...only to have them turn around and say ‘oh, the line continues over there’.  We turned and looked where they pointed, and there the line was, snaking around the corner.  There must have been over 200 people in the line.  Hmmm, this might not have been the best idea!
After about 45 minutes of waiting, we finally got to the front of the line and in a position that we were guaranteed top deck seats.  And about this time I was starting to wonder if the discount was worth it.  Especially as I saw the competitor’s buses passing by with half the top deck seats empty.  I mean, think about it, why do you take a HOHO bus?  It’s right in the title, you hop on and you hop off at the various stops around the route, then you hop back on again.  And it is that part that is starting to cause me a bit of grief. ..the hop back on again part.  If we had to wait nearly an hour to get ON the bus, how long will we have to wait each time we hop OFF the bus?
I’m pleased to say that it was never a problem.  We got off in SoHo, we got off again at the 9/11, and neither time was there any real wait getting back on.  All in all, a pretty darn good experience.  We really enjoyed SoHo, and the 9/11 memorial was a wonderful tribute to those that lost their lives.  We didn’t book museum tickets in advance, so the long line prevented us from getting in. No problem.  Next time!
In Vanessa Williams fashion, we saved the best for last!  Tonight was the award winning musical ‘Come From Away’.  Did I like it?  Well, let’s just say this...after tonight my favourite musical is no longer the Book of Mormon!!
It is just amazing to see what can be done with 12 performers, 7 band members, 14 chairs and 2 tables.  That’s it, that’s all.  No intricate props.  No complex set design.  Just pure and simple entertainment that takes you through the full range of emotions.  I laughed, I cried.  It was touching.  But most of all, it made me proud I was a Canadian, and WISH I was a Newfoundlander!!  Based on the enthusiastic reaction by the audience, I think it’s safe to say that the cast and crew of that show are going to be gainfully employed for quite awhile.
Early start tomorrow as we make our way to the airport and home.  Another great weekend getaway!

I wonder if Jeff Daniells is saying 'hey, was that Kat and Pat?'
