I’ve been plagued with school trips on this holiday. It started when I left Saint John and has continued throughout. Even this morning on our way to the tram stop, our progress was blocked by a great long line of young students. When we got to the airport? Even MORE students embarking on a holiday. Which is where our story for the day begins.
But before I go there, just let me tell you this...without any real motivation, I reached for my lucky undies this morning when I dressed. You just never know when you need a little luck, right? I was beginning to doubt the legitimacy of them after what happened next.
We had a smooth check in with our no frills airline, we headed to security. All was right with the world. And then we got mixed up in the middle of a group of students. Let me tell you...it’s all fun and games until you lose someone in the airport. It was a rather stressful half hour, but the lucky undies prevailed, and we managed to find our missing travel partner and got to the gate in time for departure.
After a smooth flight, we arrived in Knock, Ireland. Yup...didn’t know there was a PLACE with that name, let alone an airport there. Suffice it to say, they aren’t accustomed to tourist’s there. Most travelers into Knock are locals. How do I know this, you ask? Because of the Visitor’s Stamp that the Immigration Officer put in my passport. It was dated April 10th...it’s been that long since they needed it!
Just when you think you’ve enjoyed all the luck that one pair of undies can provide...you leave the Knock airport to catch the Galway bus and find out that there is no ticketing machine onboard, so everyone gets to ride for free!
And if all that wasn’t enough, we got to our hotel and got 2 upgraded rooms, one with a large sitting area for our evening ‘debriefs’. How much more luck can we take??
Think I’d best wash these undies out and wear them again tomorrow...and the next day...and the next...
