Calling all Foodies

London, England, United Kingdom
Smooth as silk is how you would describe the first day of our trip. Fay and I met at the designated area just a little after noon and made our way to our hotel. It is a nice and cozy little spot very close to Paddington Station. We have a cute triple room with three beds, just as ordered. I thought we'd benefit from the extra space, but there is very little extra of anything. It's clean and has a good sized bathroom, so what more can you ask. Unfortunately, it's not on the elevator matter if you get off at the 1st floor or 2nd floor, you still have to climb some stairs to get here. It also has the most unique keyring that I've ever seen. Suffice it to say, we won't be leaving the hotel with the room key in our pockets!!

After getting settled, we headed out to explore the neighbourhood, then had a bite to eat at the Sawyer Arms, just up the street . After a breather, we decided to head to Piccadilly Circus to see the lights. And it was there that I found the spot where all foodies go to die. It's called Fortnum & Mason and it can only be described as food heaven. They have everything there, and then some. I found a wee small bag of assorted licorice candies for the very reasonable (read ridiculous) sum of 6 GBP. Hey, not only is it good to eat, but it doubles as a souvenir! I must admit that I have heard of this place, but this is definitely the first time I've ever been. And to think we just stumbled upon it. Definitely worth the trip! Worth it to see how the other half eat!!

Tonight we had an early night which was capped off with a few drinks in our room. Don't get me going on the lack of ice machines in this country. Tomorrow we'll know that you have to buy your ice at the grocery store and bring it back to the room with you. Who knew that a hotel that can provide a full english in the morning can't make ice!!
