All settled into our cabin. Tested out the drinks and pizza. Checked the forecast for the duration and it’s not looking like there’ll be any tanning on the itinerary. That can change. We have a lovely table in the DaVinci dining room with Glen from the Philippines and Ming from Malaysia. I think they’re gonna work out just fine.
Spent some time this evening in the casino. No surprise that even here on a cruise ship, there are some people that shouldn’t be let out alone. Mr and Mrs South Carolina were playing behind me beside Mrs. Indianapolis. The Carolinas were having some luck. Mrs. Indy encouraged them to leave with their winnings. I think she just wanted to hop onto their machines while there may have been some ‘luck’ left in them. Indy asked their names, to which Mrs Carolina said ‘Lorraine and Scott’. Indy seemed to grasp Lorraine easily enough, but couldn’t grasp Scott. Finally, after spelling it 3 times S-C-O-T-T, Indy got it.
Then there was Sergei and his friend, who based on their accents were either Russian or Czech. It was my worst nightmare…there are 2 machines of the same type…which do I pick? I settled on 1 and commenced to win $20 or $30. In the meantime, Sergei sat down at the other machine and, playing $6.60 per spin, managed to hit it big. He was over $1100 when I left. I’ll be keeping an eye on Sergei…cause I can’t understand someone of his nationality picking a Panama cruise which would be filled with families. Yes, I do have a suspicious mind and I might be a bit pissed that he ended up with the ‘hot’ machine!
It’s an early night for us tonight. Never much going on the first night onboard. Tomorrow’s a sea day, so should find lots of interesting characters out and about.
