There’s yer sign…

Limón Province, Limón Province, Costa Rica
I think it’s a sign.  Not one I’m pleased about, but it must be a sign of old age.  I can no longer handle extreme heat, and today in Limon was probably the hottest day yet.  We left the ship and walked the 300 meters to the terminal area…and I use that term loosely…and we were already in a lather.  I’m sure there’s not a clogged pore on my face after the sweat I produced this morning.  We lasted out there about a half an hour.  We walked briefly around the crowded market in the terminal area and then ventured out into the downtown core.
It shouldn’t be any surprise to hear that Limon is a typical, third world country, dirty town with lots of stray animals and people begging for spare change.  The main street through the downtown had a few stores…one sold appliances, one sold motorcycles, a few sold cheap and cheesy souvenirs, and the others sold clothing which may or may not be referred to as ‘fashionable’.  Bottom line, nothing of interest to us. Add the lack of interesting shops to the ungodly level of heat and humidity and that equals us returning to the ship in very short order.
It was a great afternoon to spend by, but mostly IN, the pool.  And with almost everyone off the ship there were lots of nice shaded lounge chairs and room to paddle around in the nice cool water.
Tonight was the perfect temperature for Movies Under the Stars though, and Barbie was definitely worth a second viewing.

Tomorrow another sea day…and the pool will be packed.
