Finally!!  A beautiful sunny day, so we took full advantage and hiked the ‘Balconies Above the Sea’.  Depending on which site you look at, it was anywhere from 1.5 km to 3.7 km…it sure FELT like the longer distance!

It’s a great hike, although not for the faint of heart.  Unlike home where there’d be fences and barriers to keep people away from the eroding cliff edges, here…nope…just signs…in Portuguese.  Either the locals are the only ones who need to be warned…OR…there just isn’t any concern over a few tourists who may stupidly stray too close to the edges.  Either way, we didn’t need anything but our own fear of falling to keep us well back.

Even though the temps haven’t been too high since we arrived, it’s obviously just an anomaly.  There are tons of flowers in bloom, and some even past their prime.

The best part of the hike?  The well deserved ‘cold one’ on the way back!

                                                

And if hiking today wasn’t enough, we were out this evening enjoying the boardwalk on Rocha Beach.
