Praia da Rocha, Faro District, Portugal
Happy St Paddy’s Day!!  And yes, they celebrate here in Portugal.  In fact, in this small little tourist strip there are not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 Irish pubs.

We started celebrating at our local, The Irish Rover where our regular server Michelle, got us our beer.  It was crazy in there with a steady stream of people coming in for the bacon and cabbage dinner.  Not our thing, so we had a quick drink and moved on.
Our next stop was a place we’d never been before.  We’ve walked by 100 times, but never actually stopped in.  Ireland’s Eye has the tag line ‘more than just a bar’.  Guess what…it’s NOT more than just a bar.  It is really JUST A BAR, and not even a great bar.  Just an okay bar.  The only food they serve is breakfast and ‘toasties’ which, for the unaware, are simple sandwiches, toasted.
After those 2 stops we were ‘beered out’, so we passed on Taffee’s and Croke Park in favour of some gelato.  That always mixes well in your stomach with beer.  I opted for the green one, of course!

As they say ‘everyone is Irish on St Paddy’s Day’ and that was certainly the case here, but still a great way to celebrate the day!  Hope you all had fun celebrating wherever you are!
