Singapore, Singapore
Lots of walking today - I've done 27,700 steps and it's only 5! Started my day early and explored Little India, checking out a few Hindu temples and the streets surrounding my hostel. Then headed over to Kampong Glam, the Malay/Muslim district of Singapore which was absolutely gorgeous. Lots of cool little shops, although most of them were closed - Singaporeans appear to be late starters! From Kampong Glam I went to 'Suntec City' a big office building/shopping centre complex, where I had a snack and got some good luck from the Fountain of Wealth. Then I walked over to the Marina Bay Sands (giant ship building) and went up the top to the so-called Skypark. It had fantastic views of the whole of Singapore - you could see Indonesia across the water too. I was lucky with the weather, clear skies so great views. After that I was starving, so headed down to the shopping centre across the road, where there was a river with people rowing boats (??), and an ice skating rink in the middle of the food court! Very strange...
Then I headed over to the Gardens by the Bay, where I checked out both of the conservatories (the big domes), and went up the skywalk between the skytrees . Very cool views. Had a wander around the gardens but by that stage was getting very tired so decided to come back to the hostel and have a rest. It was just starting to spit with rain so I had good timing, as I realised I hadn't packed my raincoat in my bag. However when I arrived at the train station it was absolutely pouring, so I got pretty drenched running back to the hostel. Now just resting before I work out what to do for dinner/the evening.
